TOWAOC, Colo. – Ute Mountain Casino Hotel will reopen to the general public on Wednesday, March 3 at 8 a.m. The reopening will demonstrate a deliberate approach, drawing on previous experience as well as implementing new, enhanced health and safety measures. The 90-room hotel, casino floor and gift shop will operate as a non-smoking facility at a capacity of 35 percent of total occupancy. The casino hours of operation will remain from 8 a.m. to midnight. Additionally, the Travel Center has changed the hours of operation to 5 a.m. until 9 p.m. and will reopen the food court on March 3.
Ute Mountain Casino Hotel’s Kuchu’s Restaurant will open on Wednesday, March 10 and the Sleeping Ute RV Park is set to reopen on Monday, April 5. With guest, tribal members and employee safety as the top priority, all employees will be tested for COVID and must show negative results before returning to work. There has been a heavy focus on vaccinating tribal members and enterprise employees throughout February with many receiving the first and second shot.

However, it is our duty to make sure the necessary measures were put in place for everyone’s safety before reopening,” said General Manager, Rick Scheer. “We are pleased to reopen our doors and welcome our guests once again.”
Commitment to Cleanliness
During the closure, all team members continued to train on new COVID-19 safety and sanitation protocols with more comprehensive training for team members in frequent contact with guests. In accordance with the general health and safety regulations, the following will remain in place for team members and guests:
- Point of Entry
Casino and hotel entry will be limited to the main entrances into the hotel lobby, both North and South Entrances.
- Thermal Cameras
Points of entry will be limited to allow non-invasive temperature checks utilizing thermal cameras. Team members or guests confirmed to have a temperature over 100.4°F will not be permitted access to the property and directed towards appropriate medical care.
- Physical Distancing
Guests and team members will be advised to practice physical distancing of six feet from others, not traveling with them while standing in lines, using elevators, or moving around the property.
Guests and team members will be expected to wear appropriate masking while playing or visiting within the casino or associated venues. If a guest needs a mask UMCH will provide one free of charge.
- Hand Sanitizer
Hand sanitizer dispensers, touchless when possible, have been placed throughout the casino and hotel.
- Sanitation Wipe Dispensers
Sanitation wipe stations have been placed at the guest and team member entrances and contact areas.
Smoking, including Cigarettes, Cigars, Vapes, and Pipes, as well as chewing tobacco, will not be permitted in the Casino, Hotel, and or Restaurant Areas.
