San Juan County said a lockdown ‘wouldn’t be legal’ for Farmington

San Juan County Commissioner Jack Fortner said a lock down for Farmington wouldn’t be legal.

Declining NM Gov. offer to use the Riot Control Act like Gallup. Fortner, an Attorney himself made it clear there are legalities with a full lockdown.

“I wouldn’t consider it and the mayor wouldn’t consider it,” Fortner said in the Daily Times. Adding, “Even if we wanted to (lock down), it wouldn’t be legal.”

Farmington is located in Northern New Mexico and is more conservative part of the state.

“I am glad we have community leaders who think, before they act,” said Nelson Bunni, who owns a cleaning business in Kirtland. “I am glad they didn’t lock down Farmington, there’s no need too.”
