PHOENIX – 31 years ago the phoenix zoo took in a majestic bald eagle with a broken wing from Washington State.
Polaris couldn’t be released back into the wild so they kept the eagle and has since been there, but recently the Phoenix Zoo said Polaris the Bald eagle has died.

It is with immense sadness that we recently had to say goodbye to one of our bald eagles, Polaris. Polaris has called the Phoenix Zoo home for 31 years. He was originally found in Washington state with a broken wing. However, because his injuries were too severe to release him back into the wild, he was brought to the Phoenix Zoo in 1987. Since his arrival, he has received exceptional care from both his keeper and veterinary staff. In addition to calling loudly above the crowd’s conversations, Polaris loved to sit on his perch at the front of his habitat and watch guests as they stared back, in awe of his majesty. We will miss him greatly.
